Abstract

1320505 Packing material for gas-liquid contacting IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 Nov 1970 [18 Nov 1969] 56402/69 Heading B1R [Also in Division F4] In a rectangular corrugated plastics packing sheet 1 having, along two opposed side edges, a number of flat portions 3 spaced alternately on opposite sides of the medial plane of the sheet and parallel thereto, a web portion 4 integrally formed with each flat portion extends towards and terminates in the medial plane of the sheet. Each web portion is inclined at an angle of between 92 and 115‹ to the flat portion to which it is connected. Adjacent flat portions 3 are interconnected by planar connecting portions 5. The sheet may be produced by vacuum forming. In use a plurality of sheets are stacked in abutting relation (see Fig. 2) with the flat portions 3 of one sheet registering with similar flat portions of an adjacent sheet. The corrugated portion 2 of each sheet may be provided with a number of projections arranged to abut similar projections on an adjacent sheet. The sheets can be secured together at the registering points by adhesive.
