Abstract

1,248,320. Corrugated containers. CENTRAL CONTAINERS Ltd. 23 Oct., 1969 [17 March, 1969], No. 13987/69. Heading B8P. A freight container has its sides 10 and its roof 11 constructed from generally planar corrugated sheet material wherein portions 12 of the corrugations which are parallel to the general plane of the sheet are formed with flutes 14. The sides 13 of the channels formed by the corrugations are divergent at an included angle of 20 degrees. In an alternative embodiment only the portions 12 of the corrugations at one side of the neutral plane 15 of the sheet are formed with flutes. The upper edges of the side walls 10 and the edges of the roof 11 are mitred and united along their full length either by welding or by individual joining plates 17 interposed between said edges or by a continuous strip extending along the length of the mitred edges. In a further embodiment (Fig. 4) the roof is formed from a flat sheet (25) reinforced by spaced channel section elements (26) and joined to the sides formed from corrugated and fluted sheet material, by corner strips (23) extending along the full length of the container.
