Abstract

1,226,259. Contact heat exchangers. R. PRIESTLEY. 29 May, 1969, No. 27218/69. Heading F4K. A packing sheet for use in gas/liquid contact apparatus comprises a single sheet of thermoplastic material having three distinct sections A, B, C; section A being a corrugated sheet portion 15, section B comprises flat edge portions 11 spaced alternately on opposite sides of the medial plane of the sheet and parallel thereto, and section C comprises planar connecting parts 13 interconnecting the planar portions 11 on the corrugating portions 15. The portion A in the arrangement shown is profiled similarly to that described in Specification 1,158,766 with the addition of projections 19 which, when a plurality of the sheets are stacked in abutment one with another, can be pinned together by any suitable means. The surfaces of the portions 12, 13 and 14 may be provided with patterned surfaces, e.g. by channelling, honeycombing or dimpling.
