Abstract

1435183 Lighting fittings LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 9 July 1973 [7 July 1972] 32552/73 Heading F4R A cover plate for a rectangular lamp is formed from a blank, Fig. 1, provided with multiple bending along two opposite edges to provide an upstanding edge portion 3, Fig. 3, projecting at right angles to the base 1 and an adjacent groove 12 for accommodating a sealing material, and wherein at least one of the multiply bent edges extends beyond at least one end of the base surface so as to provide upstanding transverse edges 4 extending across the base surface at both ends thereof. As shown, the multiply bent edges may extend beyond the base surface at all four corners of the blank for a distance approximately half the width of the base surface. Lugs 8 attached to the extensions 4 of the multiply bent edges receive the transverse sides to the base surface 1, and stiffening beads (15) may be provided in the base surface 1 adjacent the joint points (14) between the edges 4, Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively, the lugs may be in the form of tongues which engage in bent out pockets in the base surface 1. In an alternative form of sheet blank, Fig. 5 (not shown), the extensions of the multiply bent edges are provided on only two diagonally opposed corners, each extension being long enough to extend across the width of the base surface.
