Abstract

1320348 Pistons; piston-rods W SCHROEDER 18 June 1970 [3 March 1970] 29577/70 Heading F2T In a compressor or pump a piston 15 is made of plastics and an annular gap 21 is maintained between it and the cylinder 20. The piston has a deep groove 16 open to the compression space 17 and a metallic blade 18 which may be cast or injected into the piston, and is located on the outer periphery of the piston facing the compression zone 17. The piston and piston-rod 14 may be integral and the rod may be reinforced by a metal tube 14a. The piston may be of polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene, P.T.F.E., polyamide, polyoxymethylene or polycarbonate.
