1320280 Gas-liquid contact KNAPSACK AG 16 Dec 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 58509/71 Heading B1F [Also in Division C2] An apparatus for hydrolysing glyceryl acetates comprises a heated oil bath 1, containing vessels 2, 3, 4 and 5 arranged serially in the form of a bubble tray column; a conduit 6 and overflow conduits 7, 8 and 9 through which the glyceryl acetates are passed down the column; conduits 10 11, 12 and 13 through which steam is introduced and passed up the column countercurrently to the glyceryl aceates; a conduit 14 and relief valve 15 through which steam containing acetic acid formed by hydrolysis is removed; and a conduit 16 through which glycerol is withdrawn from the apparatus.
