Abstract

The heap may be enclosed by walls 27. A chimney 6 communicates with the space below each support 2, and air is supplied by a blower 30 through a jacket surrounding the chimney to the interior of the support 2 to issue from inclined outlets 9. Water tubes cool the sides of the supports 2, and liquid fuel or waste may be injected below the supports. Pre-heated air may be supplied to each support for ignition. Pushers 20 assist movement of the fuel towards the combustion spaces 7. (For Figures see next page)
