Abstract

1318721 Blowing lances VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE AG 13 Aug 1970 [14 Aug 1969] 39148/70 Heading F4B [Also in Division B3] A nozzle head for a water cooled blowing lance comprises air inlet piece 3<SP>1</SP> formed with studs 17 bored to form the oxygen passages, and an end plate 5<SP>1</SP> formed with studs 16 bored to form the oxygen passages, the studs 16, 17 being connected together at 18 in a plane perpendicular to the nozzle axis and between “ and # of the nozzle length from the end plate. The inlet piece 3<SP>1</SP> and end plate 5<SP>1</SP> are formed as separate blanks, the oxygen passages are drilled in each stud, and the blanks are assembled on a jig with pins engaging the bores with soldering foil between the studs and heated to complete the joins. Shoulders 15<SP>1</SP> are formed on the end plate to support a water guide member 2<SP>1</SP>. Locating screws 19 engage a groove on the inlet piece 3<SP>1</SP> to locate its relative to the lance.
