1,265,980. Cylinder liners; cooling. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO. July 28, 1969, No.37835/69. Heading F1B. An I.C. cylinder block comprises a sleeve 23, Fig. 1, abutting a counterbored surface 25 and extending upwardly within a counterbore in a cylindrical bore, a liner 17 slidingly fitted within the bore and extending upwardly within the sleeve, the liner being maintained in its axial position by abutment of a flange with the sleeve, and coolant passages between the sleeve and the liner, the sleeve and the block and the flange and the block. In a modification the cylinder has a thin top deck (51), Fig. 3 (not shown) which has a coolent passage 53 as well as the passage (39) between the flange and the block.
