Abstract

1317603 Sports ground E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 29 April 1971 [5 June 1970] 27366/70 Heading A6D [Also in Divisions C1 and C3] The surface layer of a running track, gymnasium, tennis court, sports field or playground may be formed from a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of a natural or synthetic rubber mixed with a) a solid particulate coagulant for said dispersion which is capable of taking up water and b) a substantially non- volatile hydrophobic organic liquid compatible with said elastomer and effective to delay the setting of said composition. Suitable synthetic rubbers are polychloroprene, carboxylated butadiene-acrylonitrile elastomer and styrenebutadiene rubber. Specified coagulants are cements and plaster of Paris. The organic liquid may be an oil, tar or bitumen fraction, ester plasticizer or liquid resin. Fillers such as aggregate, sand, gravel, rubber crumb, clay andwhiting and pigments may also be present in the composition, which may be applied by trowelling or spraying.
