Abstract

1317150 Starting and stopping diesel engines AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 20 Dec 1971 [22 Feb 1971] 59161/71 Heading F1K A control device for starting and stopping a diesel engine comprises an electric motor 1 connected by mechanical means to a valve (not shown) in the fuel supply conduit of the engine, the electric motor being connected to an electrical supply (also not shown) through a first reversing switch actuated by a relay connected to the supply through the main switch for starting and stopping the engine. The mechanical means comprises a screw 2 provided at the end of the shaft of the motor and a nut 3 which is screwed along the screw when the motor rotates, the displacement of the nut being transmitted to the valve through connecting means 7 and the travel of the nut being limited by a second reversing switch 13 which has two stable positions and is actuated by two stops 10, 11 integral with the nut. The second reversing switch is inserted in the supply circuit of the electric motor and adapted to cause the stopping of the motor in combination with the first reversing switch and to permit reversal of the direction of rotation of the motor so as to cause either the opening or the closing of valve.
