Abstract

1303591 Starting diesel engines AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT and REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT 1 June 1971 [11 June 1970] 18340/71 Heading H2H [Also in Division F1] A device for starting and stopping a diesel engine comprises a shut off valve 10 for insertion in the fuel conduit 11 of the engine and a switch 1 having a moving contact 1a, an "accessories" contact 3, an "operation" contact 5 and a "starting" contact 6, a voltage being applied to the "accessories" contact both for the "accessories" position and the "operation" position of the moving contact and the "accessories" contact being temporarily switched off during the passage of the moving contact of the switch from one to the other of these switch positions. The shut-off valve is actuated by an electromagnetic device 13, 14 having two stable positions and an actuating coil for each direction of displacement, the opening coil 13 of the shut off valve being connected between earth and a part of the circuit which carries current when the switch is placed on the "starting" contact. The closing coil 14 is connected between the "accessories" contact and earth in series with an opening switch 15 of a relay whose coil 16 is connected between the "operation" contact and earth.
