Abstract
1316999 Arc electrodes ATOMENERGI AB 19 June 1970 29975/70 Heading H5H In order to facilitate starting an arc by a high, initiating voltage the end of the electrode 1 adjacent the arc is formed with longitudinal edges 4 the angle formed by the faces meeting at each edge being less than 90 degrees. The said angle is preferably about 60 degrees, the crosssection of the end of the electrode then being an equilateral triangle, as indicated in Fig. 5 (not shown). In alternative forms the cross-section may show four edges, joined by concave faces or two edges joined by two convex faces. It is also proposed that the end portion of the electrode might be tapered, see Fig. 3 (not shown).
