Abstract

1316870 Roller and ring device BUEHLER AG Gebr 29 June 1970 [30 June 1969] 31435/70 Heading B5A Material e.g. of granular or pasty consistency is pressed through radial passages in an annular press mould, first by compaction longitudinally of the passage and then radially of the passage, each passage having at least one intermediate bore 13 of cross-sectional area not more than 30% larger than that of the outlet profile. Each passage 10 preferably has a prechamber e.g. of cylindrical 11, or conical section 12. In the case of a doubly stepped passage, as in Fig. 1, the intermediate bore 13 is preferably not longer than one third of the length of the passage. The intermediate bore may itself be in two sections (13, 23, Fig. 2, not shown), forming a triply stepped passage; the outer section of the bore (23) may be up to 30% larger in cross-sectional area than the outlet or, alternatively, the inner section (13) may be up to 30% larger in cross-sectional area than the outlet and the outer section (23) therebetween. In either case, the intermediate bore is preferably not longer than one half the length of the passage.
