Abstract

1297956 Mixing device IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 April 1970 [21 May 1969] 25862/69 Heading B5A [Also in Division B1] An extruder comprises a barrel 6 and screw 7 having an extended core 2 provided with channels 3 in which rollers 4 lie. A perforated plate 8 may be located at the end of the extruder. In operation, when material is forced through the clearance between core 2 and an inner sleeve 1 located in the barrel, the rollers are caused to rotate and split up the flow of material thereby producing a mixing effect. According to a modification, the channels may be formed in the inner surface of the sleeve.
