1409366 Extruder breaker plate GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 13 Feb 1973 [15 March 1972] 7061/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division B1] An extruder for working material (e.g. plastics, rubbers and waxes) comprises strainer 20 comprising a breaker plate 22 having passages 60 and a smooth surface curved convexly in a direction opposite to the direction of flow of material through barrel 12, and optionally one or more straining elements 41 (e.g. perforated or wire mesh elements), positioned between the barrel 12 containing screw 14 (or ram) and head 24. The curved surface may be in the form of part-sphere, -paraboloid or -ellipsoid.
