Abstract

1316347 Overhead lines ENTE NAZIONALE PER L'ENERGIA ELETTRICA 19 Oct 1970 [18 Oct 1969] 49599/70 Heading H2C An overhead electric power transmission line has a group of phase conductors 2 suspended from support means 1 by a chain of insulators 4, and, at least in the region of the support means 1, the group of conductors are contained within an insulating tube 7. The insulating tube consists of a metal tube covered with insulation 7. Metal rings 8 are connected mechanically and electrically to the group of conductors outside the tube 6, and metal rods 9, arranged above the rings 8 on a guard wire 10, ensure there is no discharge between the conductors 2 and support 1, by providing a shorter discharge path to the guard wire 10. The rods 9 may alternatively be arranged on the central phase cable (not shown).
