Abstract
1,133,266. Enclosing cable joints. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. 27 July, 1967 [28 July, 1966], No. 34015/66. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H1] A distribution cable has one or more power conductors 2, an outer conductor 5 and branch cables 11 comprising one or more power conductors 12 permanently connected at spaced locations along its length. The branch cables may be long enough to be service cables and two or more of them may be connected at some or all of the spaced locations (e.g. at 30-60 feet intervals) and the connections may be surrounded by moulded plastics insulation 18 such as a P.V.C. compound or acrylic syrup. The conductor 5 may consist of copper wires which are parted to allow the conductors 2 and 12 which may be of A1 (or A1 alloy) to be welded together. The insulation 3 may be ethylene propylene rubber and the sheathing 6, 13 and 16 may be P.V.C. The method of making the above connections is described and claimed in detail.
