Abstract

1315470 Balers GEBR WELGER 14 April 1972 [29 April 1971] 17421/72 Heading B5F In an agricultural baler a clutch member 7 is secured to a knotter shaft and to a needle lift rod 9, and is connectible to a drive wheel 10 by a spring plate 14 having a projection 17 engageable in a recess 13 in the wheel 10, a lever 22 normally holding the plate away from the wheel. When a plate 26 pivoted to the lever 22 is released by a rod 30 connected to a bale measuring wheel the plate is pivoted by a spring (32) so that a pin thereon moves into the path of a cam (35) on the drive wheel 10. The cam pushes the plate and thus pivots the lever 22 to allow the spring plate to engage the drive wheel. Resetting of the rod 30 returns lever 22 to its normal position so that after one revolution of the spring plate it is declutched by a roller 20 thereon riding up a ramp on the lever. The lever has a ramp on its other side so that the spring plate can be declutched if the drive wheel is driven in the reverse direction to unjam the baler.
