Abstract

1,235,639. Ratchet gearing. MALLORY TIMERS Ltd. 21 Jan., 1970 [21 Jan., 1969], No. 2867/70. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division H1] In a ratchet drive for a programme timer shaft 48, Fig. 3, a cam 118 oscillates a lever 104 by engagement with a projection 138 which drops off at cam point 120 whereby ratchet wheel 60 is moved anticlockwise by a pawl 124 on the lever 104 under the action of a "constant force" return spring 112. The spring 112 is attached between a fixed pin 114 and a pin 116 in lever 104 and in the event of the device sticking a further cam 140 engages over the pin 138 to force the lever 104 downwards. Holding ratchets 128, 130 loaded by a spring 44 prevent reverse rotation of the ratchet wheel 60, which is coupled through splined shaft 48 to timer switch operating cams (58), Fig. 1 (not shown).
