Abstract
1313506 Diffusion pumps EDWARDS HIGH VACUUM INTERNATIONAL Ltd 4 May 1970 [7 May 1969] 23382/69 Heading F1E A diffusion pump comprises a gas inlet 16 having an isolation valve 18 and a fluid-cooled casing 8 which has an enlarged portion surrounding the top-most nozzle 2 of a jet assembly 6 to increase volumetric pumping speed, and containing baffles or traping surfaces to reduce backstreaming. The valve 18 and the baffles 14 or vapour trap may be dismantled to provide access to the jet assembly 6. The baffles 14 may have one or more cooled guard rings to limit the solid angle through which vapour is emitted from the nozzle 2.
