Abstract

1312898 Spits MOULINEX SA 7 Feb 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 5630/72 Heading A4D [Also in Division B4] A roasting oven comprises a housing 12 containing a horizontal spit 14, a rotary driver 18, supported by a first lateral wall 20, for receiving a pointed first end 16 of the spit, a cylindrical journal 22 at or near a second end of the spit 14 and a bearing 23, forming part of a push-pull slide 30 supported by a second lateral wall 24 of the housing, for receiving the journal 22, the slide movable between a work position in which the bearing 23 is axially aligned with the driver 18 and a position for removing the spit in which the bearing 23 is outside the housing 12. A bracket 16 is attached to the first lateral wall 10 to hold the first end 16 of the spit during its removal from the oven. The driver 18 has a square cross-sectional bore and the spit comprises a portion of square cross-section 42 attached to a collar 44, Fig. 8 which is joined to the journal by a thin stem 46 surrounded by a sleeve 48 biased against the journal 22 by a spring 50. The spring 50 and socket 48 resiliently urge the first end 16 of the spit into the driver 18. A removable handle 52 is provided for coupling with a boss 54 at the second end of the spit. The handle 52 comprises a housing 56, a locking lug 58 attached to one end of a hook 60 the shank of which passes freely through the housing and has at its end an unlocking button 62. The lug 58 holds the boss 54 in a locked position in the housing 56 and depression of the button 62 against a spring 64 releases the boss 54.
