Abstract

1312202 Rotary distributers LANDIS & GYRAG 28 May 1971 [24 June 1970] 17961/71 Heading H1N A rotary stepping switch, for selective reception and utilization of order pulses following a starting pulse in a pulse sequence of a ripple control system, comprises a switch arm 8 carrying a contact 9 for co-operation with contacts such as 12, 13 on members 11 which are selectively inserted between webs 10 around a dish-shaped housing 1. A disc 3, fitting within a ball race 2 on housing 1 and having a central pin 5 rotatable in a sleeve 4, carries the arm 8 on a pivot 20. A leaf spring 22 urges arm 8 outwardly. When a starting pulse is received a synchronous motor (not shown) drives a pinion 6 via known stepping mechanism (not shown) and thus steps disc 3 by means of pins 7. The pinion 6 and pins 7 form a loose coupling so that contact 9 may be accurately aligned with the fixed contacts between steps by a locating lever 16 pivoted at 17. The lever 16 has an elongated aperture 18 in which a pin 19 on arm 8 engages to urge a nose on lever 16 against undulations 14, 15 formed around the inner periphery of housing 1. Connection to contact 9 is preferably by a slip ring (not shown). (For Figures see next column.)
