Abstract

1,153,296. Toothed gearing. GENERAL ELECTRIC & ENGLISH ELECTRIC COMPANIES Ltd. 5 Sept., 1966 [3 Sept., 1965], No. 37839/65. Heading F2Q. Continuous rotation of a shaft 16 is converted into intermittent rotation of the turret 2 of a radio transmitter and/or receiver by the engagement of a pin 17 on the driving member 1 in radial channels 5-8 on the turret, a locking member comprising two arms 21, 22, freely mounted on a shaft 18 and biased apart by spring 26, being urged by the driving member 1 into contact with two of stops 12-15 on the turret 2 to prevent rotation of the turret during lost motion of the driving member 1. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), a normal Geneva star-wheel (32) is driven by a disc (37) carrying a pin (38), the locking member comprises a U-shaped spring member (34) slidable laterally of the axes of rotation of the wheel (32) and disc (37). One leg of the spring member (34) lies adjacent the disc (37) shaped to contact the leg and spring bias the other leg into contact with the wheel (32) to prevent rotation of the wheel during lost motion of the disc (37).
