Abstract

1,036,255. Lathe turrets. HARDINGE BROS. Inc. May 12, 1964, No. 19773/64. Heading B3T. A turret assembly comprises means 35 for unlocking the turret 18 and, by continued movement, rotating it to the next position; the drive including a lost-motion connection 41. Rotation of the handle first releases wedging lugs 25, 26 from a pin 30: a pin 40 then engages the face 41 of a recess in a pinion 37 to rotate gearing 37, 42 and advance a rack 44 which rotates the turret through a one-way clutch until a ball 50 clicks into an indexing recess in the turret. To prevent over-travel of the turret an arm 55 rotates with the handle 35 to engage a button 51 on the turret. The handle 35 is held in a locked position by a plunger 59 and a recess 58, or in a " turret-released " position by a recess 64, or a " turret-indexed " position by a recess 66.
