Abstract

1311707 Wood laminates and veneers P ALPI V ALPI M AGARNI and S GIOVANNA [trading as ALPI PIETRO & FIGLIO & C SOC DI FATTO] 4 Dec 1970 57857/70 Heading B5L A shaped laminate is made by inserting a stack 2 of wooden sheets with adhesive or bonding agent between them, between a pair of mould members 3, 4 having uneven surfaces, and pressing the block or stack 2 with the plates. The unevenness of one mould member is complementary with that of the other mould member. The shaped laminate may be cut into thin slices to form veneers, by cuts parallel or inclined to its major faces. The sheets forming the stack or block may be dyed and the bonding agent or adhesive may be a urea-formaldehyde resin. The shaped laminate may be cut by a blade. To obtain a thicker laminate, after pressing one stack the mould plates are separated, an additional stack is inserted between the first stack and one of the mould plates, and pressing is again effected.
