Abstract

131,118. Arter, J. J. B., and James Cycle Co. Aug. 6, 1918. Projectiles. -Relates to shells containing a number of hollow segmental chambers filled with explosive and so arranged as to form a central passage through which a fuse passes to the bursting-charge in the base of the shell. According to the invention, the exterior and interior of each chamber b is segmental. and the interior is corrugated, Fig. 4, a plug f carrying a fuse h being fitted into the apex of the chamber and having a nozzle g which projects into the space c between the chambers. The base i of the shell may be pointed, as shown in Fig. 6, and may be made hollow so as to contain the bursting-charge.
