125,639. Vickers, Ltd., Buckham, Sir G. T., and Barker, F. H. Sept. 27, 1916. Projectiles; projectile fuses.-Relates to anti-aircraft shells of the kind containing a number of small projectiles which are filled with incendiary composition and are arranged around a central flash-tube, leading from a nosefuse to a bursting- charge in the rear. Ac. cording to the invention, (1) the projectiles are hollow bullets open only at their bases, at which end the incendiary composition is ignited, preferably by shalloon primers B<4>, B<4x> arranged within the flash-tube B; (2) the bullets may be in several rows and have the points disposed in perforations or recesses in plates such as C, C' (3) the incendiary composition in the bullets may be ignited by powder pellets C<3>, C<4> carried by plates B<2>, C on which the bullets are mounted. The pellets communicate with the primers B<4>, B<4x> through flash-holes D. Wood supports C<5> are placed between the bullets, and the plates B<2>, C have keys engaging in slots in the shell body to take up the rotation.
