131,110. Muirhead, W. July 11, 1918. Cast-iron and scrap processes.-Metal for use in making chilled iron rolls and other castings is obtained by melting pig iron and scrap in the cupola, and partly decarbonizing the charge in an openhearth furnace. A bath composed of old rolls may be prepared in the open-hearth to receive the metal from the cupola. Specifications 685/72, 3589/73, and 1279/78 are referred to.
