Abstract

1310856 Coke quenching cars HEINRICH KOPPERS GmbH 12 Oct 1971 [22 Oct 1970] 47387/71 Heading F4B Coke from the rotary drum 1 of a quenching car passes over a dam ring 4 and is directed by a shoot 7 into pockets defined by blades 8 extending between blade rings 9 and 10, being discharged from the pockets as they pass in turn over a discharge port into a conduit 13 and hood 16 feeding a conveyer 17. The conduit and hood form part of a fixed housing 19 having an offtake 20 for dust, fumes and vapour arising from water quenching of the coke and an arcuate segment 21 extending upwardly from the bottom edge 33 of the shoot 7 to form a sealing member for the pocket interiors. The shoot 7, segment 21 and wear plates 11 and 22 form a unitary structure attached to a housing cover 23 which is itself adjustably attached to the housing 19 by bolts 32 engaging flanges 25 and 26 and having associated springs. Where conveyer 17 enters the hood 16 a sealing strip 37 is provided an a flap 18 at the other end minimizing entry of air into the hood.
