Abstract
749,203. Vehicles equipped with conveyers for unloading material. CHARROLD, Ltd. Sept. 14, 1954 [Sept. 14, 1953], No. 25295/53. Class 78 (4). A scraper conveyer 23, Fig. 3, running over the base 3 of the hopper body of a vehicle to deliver material to a discharge opening is housed within a chamber 11, 12 within the body and receives the material through its sides 11. As illustrated the material is fed to the conveyer through doors 13 biased to the open position shown at the right-hand side of Fig. 3 by springs 36 acting through linkages 34, 33, 32 and closed independently by hand levers (not shown) grouped at a common operating point on the vehicle and acting through cables 37 passing over pulleys 30 within the chamber 11, 12. The doors 13 may open as described in Specification 667,057. The upper portion 12 of the chamber 11, 12 may be removed for servicing. The conveyer 23 comprises pusher bars joining endless chains 22, the upper run of which is carried by brackets 25 on the chamber while the lower run is protected from material by plates 26. The chains are driven from a motor 24, Fig. 1, on the vehicle and deliver the material to an aperture 5 which may be closed by a hinged or sliding flap 6. The body 1 may be divided into compartments for receiving different materials and may be provided with articulated lids 40. An upwardly folding catwalk 43 may be provided on the body.
