Abstract

131,065. Mooney, D. J. April 11, 1918. framework. - A spar or other structural unit for aircraft comprises two girder members A with tongues C' punched out of the webs and riveted together as shown. The flanges B of the members A may be circular, oval, or rectangular, and may be reinforced by similarlyshaped tubes. Plugs of wood G may be driven into the flanges to take wood-screws connecting wooden portions of the aircraft to the spar.
