Abstract

Framework.-A metal fitting for connecting longitudinals to uprights and cross-members of aeroplane framework comprises a metal plate bent to the form shown, so as to provide a part a connected by bolts e to the longitudinal f, a part b attached by screws g to the upright h or crossmember i, and inclined lugs c, d for attachment of bracing-wires, the bolt-holes in the part a being arranged at different distances from the axis passing through the eye in the lug d, so that, when two fittings are attached to a longitudinal f with their lugs d coinciding for the attachment of a stay-wire k, as shown in Fig. 2, the bolt-holes of the two fittings will be in different planes and through-bolts may be employed. The upright and cross-members are formed at their ends with slots to fit over the heads of the bolts e for preventing slipping. The outer edges of the lugs may be folded over on themselves as indicated at l.
