Abstract

472,546. Composite aircraft. MAYO, R. H. March 24, 1936, No. 8758. [Class 4] In a composite aircraft comprising component aircraft 5, 7, mounted one on top of the other and secured together by releasable locking means a flexible link 8 is provided which continues to interconnect the components after detachment has taken place, link 8 consisting either of a pipe line through which fuel can be transferred after detachment from component 5 to component 7 or of a cable or the like by means of which a pipe line connection may be established between the two detached components. The fuel may be transferred by gravity in which case component 7 is arranged to fly below component 5 after separation or pumps may be installed in one or other component.
