1310231 Endless-chain overhead-rail conveyers INDUSTRIAL HANDLING SYSTEMS (BATHGATE) Ltd 4 June 1970 [4 March 1969] 11570/69 Heading B8A [Also in Division F2] A conveyer chain comprises a plurality of interconnected links 2, each provided at one end 4 with a seating for a bearing member 7 to which the other end 6, 6, of the adjacent link is connected, whereby relative pivotal movement can take place between adjacent links about substantially intersecting axes, disposed at 90 degrees to each other. Each of the links comprises a U-shaped body having the seating formed at the closed end of the U, the seating being at least part-spherical in form to receive a co-operating spherical portion 7 of the bearing member. A roller 16 is mounted within the legs of the U-shaped body and in the case of alternate links provides a bearing on a surrounding tubular support rail 25 for loads (including the conveyed load carried by supports 27), in a vertical direction. Similar rollers 16 on the remaining links provide support and guidance in the horizontal plane.
