Abstract

1309470 Electro-photography ILFORD Ltd 23 June 1971 [17 July 1970] 34876/70 Heading G2H A charged photo-conductive member having red, green and blue light-sensitive mosaic areas is imagewise exposed to a multi-colour negative (or original) and the resulting charge image (or complementary areas) developed with a pansensitizer, thereby producing white areas which do not hold a charge on further exposure to any primary colour. The member is then recharged, uniformly exposed to one complementary colour, developed with toner of the complementary colour, and the process repeated twice for the other complementary colours, the conditions being such that one complementary colour toner does not deposit on another. The pan-sensitizer may be panchromatically dyed photo-conductive particles or dye particles consisting of a single panchromatic dye or mixture of monochromatic dyes. The developments may be with liquid-suspended toner. Fixing may be effected by heat or solvent vapour treatment of image resin or by presence of filmforming polymer in developer liquid.
