Abstract

1308750 Ignition systems TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 14 July 1971 [27 Aug 1970] 32921/71 Heading F1B A high frequency continuous wave ignition system for an internal-combustion engine comprises a high frequency electric oscillator (not shown), a control winding 12 for starting and stopping oscillation of the oscillator according to whether or not current is flowing in the control winding, an electronic bi-stable control circuit 40 for starting and stopping current flow in the control winding, and an electric pulse generator for example, having a winding 32 for triggering the control circuit successively from one of its bi-stable states to the other, the electric pulse generator being adapted to produce a train of triggering pulses by interaction between a fixed part and a part drivable in rotation by the engine. A unijunction transistor oscillator 82 is provided associated with a capacitor 87 and a resistor 86. A pulse will be produced after a predetermined time delay if the engine should stop with the current cut off from the control winding 12. Such a pulse will cause the bi-stable circuit to be switched back so as to cut off the oscillator.
