1308195 Skirts for air cushion vehicles AIR CUSHION EQUIPMENT Ltd 21 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 19535/70 Heading B7K A flexible skirt for a gas cushion vehicle comprises juxtaposed segments each of which are substantially V-shaped in horizontal transverse cross-section, have a curved front wall and side walls which taper from their upper end towards their lower end, the segments in use, extending vertically and sealing one against the other, the bottom end of each segment, in use, lying in a substantially horizontal plane or at an angle to the horizontal less than that of the front wall of the segment. The bottom edges 15a, Fig. 2, of a segment having a front wall 17 are connected by a bottom wall portion 16 which is maintained within the sidewalls 15 of the segment by a tensioning cord, wire or strap 18. Alternatively a track 19, Fig. 3, is formed in the bottom wall portion either inside, as shown, or outside the segment to keep the bottom wall portion inside the segment. In another embodiment, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), the bottom edges of the wall are formed by cutting away the bottom part of the material forming the segment and securing to the edges a bottom wall portion of wear resistant material. This bottom wall portion may lie at an angle to the horizontal, Fig. 7 (not shown), which is lessthanthat of the front wall of the segments and may be provided in this case with a tuck in each of its side walls. The segments may be moulded to shape.
