Abstract

1,191,945. Air cushion vehicles. BRITISH HOVERCRAFT CORP. Ltd. 22 March, 1968 [6 June, 1967], No. 26139/67. Heading B7K. A flexible skirt for an air cushion vehicle comprises a plurality of contiguous discrete elements of U-section in plan each comprising sheets 1, 2 looped into a seam 3 and formed with holes 4 for body attachments and further holes 5 from which cushion air may discharge to reduce friction between the lower part of the element and a surface over which a vehicle carrying the skirt operates. The base of each element or additionally the base and the exterior of the seam may be covered by a reinforcing member. The sheets may be seamed down two opposed edges to form an oval section with an aperture at the base for the discharge of air to form an air curtain.
