Abstract

1,197,534. Marine fenders. BRIDGESTONE TIRE K.K. 27 Sept., 1968 [2 Nov., 1967], No. 46080/68. Heading B7S. An arch-shape fender has a lateral crosssection comprising a shock-receiving portion 1, a pair of mounting portions 2, 2<SP>1</SP> below, parallel to and symmetrical about, and spaced greater than the width of, the portion 1, and a pair of shock-absorbing portions 3, 3<SP>1</SP> connecting the portion 1 to the portions 2, 2<SP>1</SP> each having a comparatively thick portion adjacent the portion 1 and a comparatively thin portion adjacent the portion 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and a buckling point P, P<SP>1</SP> on the inner surface at the boundary between said comparatively thin and thick portions, the portion 1 having its top spaced a distance H from the bottom of the portions 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, the points P, P<SP>1</SP> being 0À2 H to 0À5 H above the bottom of portions 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and spaced 0À4 H to 0À8 H from each other.
