Abstract

1307478 Closure for tank METALLWERK AG BUCHS 8 Sept 1971 [28 Sept 1970] 41923/71 Heading F2P [Also in Division E2] A storage tank made of plastics material is provided with a manhole cover in which a cover 4 seated on a flange 2 is releasably clamped to the flange by a clamping band 7 of channel section surrounding the peripheries of the flange and cover and having its ends connected by a tensioning device (bolt 11) for drawing the ends together to contract the band circumferentially, the sides 9 of the channel being mutually inclined divergently so as to press the cover 4 towards the flange 2 when the band is contracted. The band 7 may be in two halves connected end to end by two tensioning devices and the tensioning devices may be captively secured to the band. Preferably the tensioning devices are bolts with nuts passing through lugs on the ends of the band. A seal 3 may be positioned between the cover and the flange or may be positioned in a groove in the flange (Fig. 3, not shown).
