Abstract
130,730. Mayrow, J. J. July 30, 1918. Framework.-Spars, beams, &c for aircraft are formed from a series of lengths of plain or corrugated material which are assembled to produce a hollow structure somewhat of polygonal section, upon which are applied lengthways auxiliary lengths of U or corrugated shape, so as to enclose therewith a series of triangular, curved, or like tubular spaces. Additional stiffeners, or brackets for the attachment of fittings, may also be provided. Fig. 3 shows one form comprising a four-part foundation 1 - - 4 with the additional parts 12 joined in pairs by a web 13, together with stiffeners 15 and attachment parts 17. The web 13 may fit the foundation; it may be made to enclose additional tubular spaces as shown in Fig. 8, or it may be omitted, and the channels 12 formed separately. Fig. 12 shows a form having substantially an octagonal section and provided with internal webs 14.
