Abstract
9851. Nobbs, W. W., and Thomas, A. J. April 26. Metal pipes and tubes.-Stays, spars and other frame parts for aerial machines, hydroplanes, &c. comprise an outer seamless shell 1 of elliptical or stream-line section internally reinforced by one or more plain or internally or externally ribbed columns 2, Figs. 1, 2, and 3, with longitudinal and transverse struts 5, 7 and ribs 6, or by a rectangular or diagonal grid-like system, as shown in Fig. 5. The reinforcing-members may be cast or otherwise formed integrally with the shell, or they may be secured thereto as by heads 2', 12<1> on the ribs.
