Abstract
1306984 Ingot moulds J C DAUSSAN G DAUSSAN and A DAUSSAN 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1971] 27085/71 Heading B3F [Also in Division C3] An ingot mould 1 or a head-box is lined with a heat insulating or exothermic liner having a number of channels 16, 17 through the liner and so arranged to fill with molten metal, in use, such that molten metal freezes in the channels to hold the lining to the cast ingot whence the ingot may be stripped from the mould with the lining attached to the ingot and the melt in the feeder head still molten. In the embodiment shown, the lining comprises four tiles 12, but alternatively four tiles held into the mould by four corner wedges can be used. The corner wedges can also be provided with metal receiving channels. A solid metal lid can be formed on the top of the ingot to prevent molten metal spillage by using a device Specification 1,306,982 in combination with the liner.
