Abstract
1305501 Blast furnace operation NIPPON STEEL CORP 30 April 1971 [28 May 1970] 12500/71 Heading C7D Apparatus for blowing reducing gas into a blast furnace 5 includes a cracking furnace 3 to which hydrocarbons air and steam are metered by valves 2 governed by controller 1; the latter is associated with valve controller 9 which receives information from pressure sensors 4, 8 on the blast furnace and the reducing gas exhaust line respectively, and which controls pressure control valve 6 and blast furnace inlet valves 12. The system operates to maintain a desired pressure of reducing gas dependent on the requirement of the blast furnace but to reduce this pressure rapidly when the blast pressure is reduced. The reducing gases may pass through coolers 10 or 11. The automatic control system may be manually over-ridden when necessary.
