Abstract

PURPOSE:To compensate an EGR rate in accordance with the variation of an atmospheric pressure at a high land by a method wherein a driving device, driving an exhaust gas recirculation control valve in accordance with a load and the atmospheric pressure detected by an engine load senser and an atmospheric pressure senser, is provided in this system. CONSTITUTION:When a cooling water temperature is higher than the predetermined value, the revolving number of the engine is higher than the predetermined value thereof, and a rapid acceleration is not effected, a vacuum generated by a vacuum pump 22 is introduced into a vacuum control valve 100 through a conduit 50, a temperature sensitive valve 51 and the conduit 52. At the high land, a bellows 67 is elongated and opens an atmosphere releasing port 65, therefore, the atmospheric pressure is introduced into a passage 64 and the vacuum taken out of the vacuum contol valve 100 is reduced in an atmosphere compensating valve 56. Since the reduced vacuum is introduced into a diaphragm chamber 20, the vacuum introduced into the diaphragm chamber 20 in the same lever opening degree is reduced in accompany with the reduction of the atmospheric pressure and the exhaust opening degree of the gas is recirculation control valve 13 is reduced. Accordingly, the EGR rate is lowered in accompany with the lowering of the atmospheric pressure and the exhaust gas is recirculated with a proper EGR rate when a car is running at the high land.
