Abstract

130,531. Sheler, J. C., and Austin, R. B. Nov. 29, 1918. Swivelling wheel hubs and the like and intermediate connexions therefor.-The front wheels of a motor-truck are driven by means of universal joints, and are mounted in frames connected by cross members in operative connexion with the steering members. The hubs 7 are provided with sleeves 8 and trunnions 9 bearing in frames 5 which are connected by transverse pivoted members 10. The members 10 are depressed and are pivoted to braces 11 forming supports for turntables 12 to which the axle casing 13 and springs 14 are secured. The steering member 19 is connected to one of the members 10 by a pin 21 and slot 20. The wheels are driven by universal joints comprising pairs of pivoted arms 22 provided with ball joints 23 and connected by knuckle joints 24 to the axles and the wheel heads.
