Abstract

1304444 Non-woven fabric; textile treating apparatus VEPA AG 13 Feb 1970 [17 Feb 1969 25 Feb 1969] 6962/70 Headings DIL and D1R A non-woven fabric is made from a fleece containing at least two different sorts of endless filaments, at least some of which are bicomponent filaments, by passing the fleece over a sieve drum whilst passing a hot fluid therethrough so as to cause shrinking or softening of the filaments, mechanically compressing the fleece during or after heating, and cooling the compressed fleece. As described, the fabric is bonded on a baffled sieve drum 2 through which heated air or steam is sucked with the fabric being pressed against the drum by an endless belt 9. The bonded fabric is cooled by gas flowing through aperture 10 or by cooling rolls 11.
