Abstract

1303697 Toy vehicles M I GLASS [trading as MARVIN GLASS & ASSOCIATES] 15 Sept 1970 [15 Dec 1969] 43999/70 Heading A6S A toy vehicle comprises a body 10 and a driving and supporting wheel 24 mounted thereon, which wheel is a flywheel which rotates so as to support the vehicle laterally of its longitudinal axis through gyroscopic action, the body also having a support means 22 in addition to the flywheel 24. As shown in the figure, a top plan view of an embodiment of the vehicle, the flywheel 24 has a rubber ring 28 around it to aid frictional contact with a supporting surface, and the flywheel shaft 26 has an opening 36 through it for a cord 38 which, wound around the shaft and then pulled, will cause the flywheel 24 to rotate, the vehicle then moving over the supporting surface when placed thereon. A launcher is also described which may be used to support the vehicle with the wheel 24 spaced from the supporting surface, whilst the cord 38 is pulled, a lever being then operated to cause the vehicle to move off the supports and propel itself over the supporting surface. Alternative means may be used to rotate the flywheel, a rack and pinion being stipulated.
