Abstract

1302229 Post-mortem table JOHN KELLY & SON (KITCHEN ENGS) Ltd 17 Dec 1971 [24 Dec 1970] 61373/70 Heading A5X A table 10 for post-mortem operations comprises a base surface 20, a discontinuous support 18 for supporting a body above the base surface 20 to allow for the passage of fluids below the body and on or above the base surface 20, and flushing means 32 for supplying flushing liquid from each of a plurality of positions around the periphery of the base surface 20. The support is formed by parallel horizontal bars 18. The flushing means may be a trough 32 (as shown) or a pipe, having a plurality of small holes (33), Fig. 4 (not shown) and extending around the base surface 20. The trough 32 may be connected to hot and cold water supplies through valves 36. Drainage means for the base surface 20 comprises a central aperture (22), Fig. 2 (not shown) therein, leading to a first hopper 44 which opens at its lower end 46 into the interior of a second hopper 48, and a conduit 52 leading from the base of the second hopper 48. A gastight pedestal 16 encloses the hoppers so that gases may be,drawn through the drainage aperture (22) and out of the tope of the second hopper 48 by connecting the interior of the pedestal 16 to a vacuum source. The bars 18 and the trough 32 are part of a unit 28 which is removable by a vertical lifting action. The unit 28 and the surface 20 are preferably of sheet metal, e.g. stainless steel.
